School Fundraising Ideas You Can Make with a Printer Cutter Machine

We’ve increasingly seen school PTAs begin to use printer cutter machines to enhance their school fundraising and marketing initiatives.

Fundraising

PTAs are creating custom, school-branded items that can be sold in the school store and at sporting events, music concerts or theater performances. These include:

    • Die cut labels and decals
    • Vinyl stickers
    • Mousepads
    • Car wraps
    • Window clings
    • Heat transfer apparel (T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, hats, etc.)

Need custom window clings for parents of honors students? What about T-shirts depicting your school’s Spring musical, including a list of cast and crew members on the back? All of these custom items can be created with one machine – a printer cutter.

What’s great about printer cutters is that they are fairly easy to use right out of the box. Other than loading / reloading paper and ink when necessary, the only maintenance required is to simply leave the machine on so that it can perform its automatic cleaning functions regularly.

Required software knowledge isn’t extensive either. You can create designs using simple programs like Adobe Illustrator (which is what we recommend). Printer cutters from Roland come with software that natively processes transparencies, drop shadows and other effects – so there is no extra image processing needed on the user’s part.

  • Marketing

Schools market their academic programs, clubs, sports teams, theater productions, and more with custom signage, but outsourcing the production of all these signs and banners can cost a fortune. Just as we’ve seen with laser cutters, schools can financially benefit by bringing their sign making in-house.

Many printer cutters offer a sizeable enough length and width to produce large, eye-catching signs. The only recurring cost is ink, which is significantly less expensive than outsourcing the production of every sign planned for the school year. The key here is to make sure your school has a dedicated staff member who has the time and capability to design the variety and quantity of banners and signs you need.
