  • Automation Training Starts Now

Automation Sandbox

FACTORY I/O is a real time automation sandbox where you can build and simulate industrial systems and use them with the most common automation technologies.

  • FACTORY I/O allows an easy and quick creation of 3D industrial systems through a drag and drop approach. Any of the built systems can be controlled in real time by connecting FACTORY I/O to external technologies, both hardware and software. FACTORY I/O is a valuable teaching tool for training future technicians and engineers in several programs and courses such as Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation and many more.

  • I/O Drivers

The interface with automation technologies is done through I/O Drivers. For example, FACTORY I/O can be interfaced with a DAQ board and controlled by most PLC through the Advantech USB 4750 driver. With the Open (SDK) driver, FACTORY I/O can be interfaced with virtually any type of technology with unlimited I/O points. This driver allows users to write code to exchange information between FACTORY I/O and target technologies allowing them to develop their own drivers. When using the Open (SDK) driver, FACTORY I/O communicates with CONNECT I/O automatically. This visual programming environment can control FACTORY I/O or be used as an I/O interface.

  • The Interactive Smart House Simulation

HOME I/O is a real time simulation of a smart house and its surrounding environment, designed to cover a wide range of curriculum targets within Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

  • HOME I/O allows users to control 174 interactive devices, typically found in a real house, through a built-in Home Automation Console. Together with CONNECT I/O, users can also connect to external technologies, both hardware and software.

With state of the art 3D graphics and an FPS video game approach (first-person shooter), HOME I/O offers a unique learning experience with immersive and motivating hands-on activities for several educational and vocational areas.

Raising Awareness. Changing Behavior

HOME I/O is designed to be an educational tool that plays a great role in shaping our kids future, by educating them about the positive impact of home automation in people’s lives and on the environment.

  • Home automation  is a growing trend that is becoming more popular and affordable every day. It improves our safety, security, convenience, comfort and it allows us to use energy in a more responsible and efficient way. With HOME I/O kids will raise awareness about energy efficiency, change behaviors and learn about new technologies.

HOME I/O is a great tool for teachers to explore and develop engaging activities in a project-based learning methodology like STEM, where students analyze  situations, search for answers and provide solutions.

  • Connect Technologies

CONNECT I/O is a visual programming tool in which a diagram is drawn with nodes and links. It can be used as a SoftPLC or  as an I/O interface with external technologies. Works out of the box with FACTORY I/O or HOME I/O, with no configuration needed. Get a live visualization of data flows and on the fly debugging.

Why Real Games?

  • PRE-BUILT EDITABLE SYSTEMS

The pre-built scenes are based on what is commonly found in typical industrial plants and are completely editable.

    CAMERAS

Select from three different camera modes: Orbit, Fly and First Person. You can also save your own cameras or set the camera to follow specific parts during the simulation.

    INSTRUCTOR MODE

Lock several options from trainees with an instructor password. Challenge students to come up with solutions, complete partially built systems or find failures and malfunctions.

  • OVER 60 PARTS AVAILABLE

Build your scene from a large selection of sensors, conveyors, elevators, buttons, switches, etc. New parts will continue to be added.

    SLOW MOTION MODE

Slow down the scene to 1/10 its original speed to fully understand the simulated system. Now it’s easier to understand systems jams or malfunctions.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

Easily inject failures in sensors and actuators. This allows the user to induce malfunctions that can be open circuit or short circuit failures.

  • TEST WHILE BUILDING

Test your systems during the building process with just one click. Switch from Edit mode to Run mode to immediately control your systems.

    SHARE YOUR SYSTEMS

All scenes can be saved and loaded allowing them to be easily shared during the entire building process. This allows users to exchange systems, exercises and increase their learning tools.

    SAFE AND EFFICIENT

Teach real industrial applications while avoiding the problems associated with productivity costs, risk to personnel and equipment damage.
