2009 VA Career and Technical Education Summer Conference

We are excited to announce the 2009 Career and Technical Education Summer Professional Development Institute to be held August 3-7, 2009, in Richmond, Virginia. On Tuesday, August 4, educators will meet at the Greater Richmond Convention Center for a day of "across-the-board" professional development.

The across-the-board day is open to all CTE teachers, special education teachers, academic teachers, CTE administrators, principals/assistant principals, counselors, community college partners (Tech Prep), business/industry partners, and CTE advisory council members. The program at the Greater Richmond Convention Center will include an opening general session with keynote speaker and other invited guests, concurrent sessions, and a vendor exhibition. The Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education will host the opening luncheon and will be inviting gubernatorial candidates to speak.

July 27-30 CAD Academy ADDA Certification Preparation 4 Day Session

Register Now for The CAD Academy ADDA Certification Preparation 4 Day Session at Jamestown High School

Amtek Company in conjunction with The CAD Academy and Williamsburg-James City Schools is offering a four day ADDA certification preparation session at Jamestown High School. The CAD Academy ADDA preparation session will be led by a certified instructor. The cost of the 4-day session per participant is $595.

This 4-day session will include the following:

• Session One: Experience the BIM (Building Information Modeling) revolution now! Learn how the power of BIM and The CAD Academy BIM curriculum will take your design program to new heights. (8 hours) Featuring ArchiCAD & Google Sketch UP Pro

• Session Two: Experience first-hand how easy it is to implement The CAD Academy STEM curriculum into you classroom while you learn how your students can experience the form, fit and function of 3D mechanical design before it is built. (7 Hours) Featuring SolidWorks & A+CAD.

• Session Three: Learn how The CAD Academy Student Mentor Program (Linking Academic Programs with Leading Industry Professionals) will enable your students to experience what it is like to be an architect, civil engineer, mechanical engineer, construction manager or interior designer. The Student Mentor Program also allows students to compete for over $75K in scholarship money and create a digital portfolio for use in seeking internship & job opportunities or education advancement. (1 Hour)

• Session Four: ADDA Industry Certification Program. Test Preparation & Review (1 Day)(8 hours) 95% Instructor Pass Rate for Program

• Session Four (cont.): ADDA Industry Certification Program. Test Review (.5 Day) + (.5 Day) Certification Testing (95% Pass Rate) Training performed by Floyd McWilliams President of ADDA & Program Manager of Anthem College (8 hours)

*This 4-day session will utilize The CAD Academy industry standard CAD software suite. This is a great opportunity for participants to utilize another industry standard CAD suite (not AutoCAD/Autodesk) while preparing for ADDA certification.

The CAD Academy advances education in the key areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and architecture (BIM/Building Information Modeling) while allowing students to explore career paths through real-world projects.
